A very strange new Xbox360 website has popped up on the internet. In fact, the only reason we know it is related to the Xbox360 is by way of the domain name, OrigenXbox360.com, and the site name "Origen Xbox 360".
The actual website itself is very simple, and more than a little strange. It depicts a countdown timer in the background (counting down from roughly 37 days, 11 hours), a tree overlaying the timer, and also the shape of a green rabbit!
So what makes this website special? Well, if you take a look at the whois details, you will see the following:
Registrant:
Microsoft Corporation
Domain Administrator
One Microsoft Way
Redmond, WA 98052
US
Email: [removed]
The registrant details, all the other domain contact details, and also the DNS servers that the site is hosted on, all match the same details for the domain xbox.com - therefore we can conclude this domain and the website are owned and hosted by Microsoft!
The only question that remains is what does it all mean? After a quick google search, it appears that "Origen" was some sort of Christian Theologist, so your guess is as good as mine.
Update 1:
This hidden image has also been discovered to appear when the countdown timer reaches zero:
Update 2:
A hidden page has also been discovered at Origen Xbox 360. If you use the secure https protocol and go to https://www.origenxbox360.com/default.asp then you are presented with a login screen.
Initially it was thought by many that the idea was to solve what the tree, the rabbit and the countdown meant on the main page, and then use these details to log into the site. However, this theory has been blown out of the water by the fact it is the standard Microsoft Press Release login page, and that people with such login information can indeed login to the site like normal.
There is also some mysterious (and very small) text on that login page that seems to read:
Up to the race there will be 1000+ London wide, running clinics, woke SWOT team that turn up, morning (Gyms) Lunch Times (Tube Stations) Evening (Tube Stations) They'll look after your bags, split the group up into varying standard, give advice and then go on runs.
What it all means is still completely up in the air, but feel free to jump in on the discussion in our forums.
From the "Far Out Department":
Checkout this wiki and the history of that wiki here. Note the name Gamem8ker (Gamemaker = Microsoft?).
Now check this out, specifically:
On November 25th the Xbox 360 will be upgraded to HD-DVD in the Premium Version only. This can easily be seen by the different drives in the core system and the premium system. The Core System will be released a few weeks earlier than the HD-DVD premium version. HD-DVD version comes out November 25th.
Does this mean that HD-DVD will be announced in the System/Premium Xbox360 package version at some stage?
